Inspired Construction recently completed the reconstruction of a home that was destroyed by a fire that started in the basement. The fire caused structural damage to the first floor framing system as well as heavy smoke damage throughout. The house required a gut down to the building framing system and specialized encapsulation to treat the framing that would remain to get rid of any smoke smell. Inspired Construction was able to salvage the majority of the structure by installing temporary shoring and replacing the first floor framing system. Once the flooring system was replaced, damaged wall framing was also replaced and the home was reconstructed using the latest building materials. The reconstruction included the installation of a spa with cedar lined sauna in the basement, new bathrooms featuring Kohler fixtures, painted and glazed kitchen cabinets by Thomasville, and a new vent-less natural gas fireplace.

This projected converted an 1940's kitchen and dining room into an up-to-date modern Kitchen with Open floor plan. We converted the old three-season breezeway between the main house and garage into conditioned living space. The ceiling of the breezeway was converted to a cathedral to open things up, along with the removal of the bearing wall between the old kitchen and living room. The previous 6 ft. opening was widened to 14 ft. to create a free flowing great entertaining space! The 1940's Pink and Blue Bathroom was reconfigured to a shower with linear drain, and updated fixtures. Tile selections utilized white subway tiles to maintain the original colonial roots of the home, but mixed in a new matte black exterior mounted shower system to provide a modern update.

1,100 Square Foot Basement Escape for entertaining or a great space for kids to play. This basement was fully unfinished from the start, we applied dry-lock waterproofing to all the walls and sealed the concrete floors. With the 8'-6" height the customer elected to create a dropped soffit around the main perimeter, with two-piece dentil crown moulding. The ceilings were painted black with black trims on the hi-hat lighting fixtures creating a luxury theater atmosphere. Additional 4" LED low-profile hi-hats were installed in the lower section of the soffit area to highlight future wall hung art work. The flooring consists of a 100% water resistant composite floating floor, giving a natural hand-scraped wood appearance. A curved accent wall was constructed in the center of the room highlighted with a black tile border and glass ball chandelier to create a great location for future artwork to be displayed. The project was completed on a fast-tracked time schedule so the client could host a party of over 70 people for a celebration!

Conversion of a 1940's Cape into a two-story Colonial in Morris Plains. The first floor was maintained by adding the new structure over the top of the existing ceiling beams. This allowed for cost savings by not impacting the existing first floor finishes and layout other than at the stair to the new second floor. The new plan includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the second floor, along with large walk-in closet. Additional square footage was captured by cantilevering the floor joists off the rear wall to pick-up additional footprint to work with that enhanced the new layout.
Open floor plans are a growing trend in new construction; with our engineering experience we can complete custom designs to remove bearing walls and open up existing spaces to update your layout to current styles. Bearing walls removed between kitchen and dining areas; installed custom island with toe-kick heater; manufactured Dekton stone top to replicate walnut slab.
